Getting started
Litmus is currently in beta on iOS (17 or later). Email [email protected] for a TestFlight invite if you don't have one yet.
- Create your account — sign up with your email (you'll confirm it with a verification email), or use Sign in with Apple or Google. No promo code is required.
- Set up your briefing — pick the fields you follow, how you like things explained (checklist, narrative, code-first, or visual), and how deep to go (TL;DR, standard, or deep).
- Read — your feed fills with what's new in your fields, distilled into short, sourced reads.
Building your learning plan
- Set a goal — describe what you want to understand or be able to do, your weekly time, and optional milestones.
- Take the calibration — a short quiz estimates your starting level so Litmus does not repeat what you already know or jump too far ahead.
- Practice — choose Understand, Apply, or Decide. Litmus gives feedback on your reasoning, not just whether you tapped the expected answer.
- Review — concepts return when recall will help them stick. Pro adds a live report for mastery, application, retention, and goal evidence.
Reading your briefing
- The gist — every story opens with a short read: what changed and why it matters.
- Sources & what was simplified — open it on any story to see the verbatim quotes behind each claim, linked to the originals.
- Understand this — expands any story into a layered briefing: what happened, why it matters, the strongest case on each side, what's established vs. contested, and the jargon explained plainly.
- Your library — save stories to revisit. Free accounts can keep up to 10 saved items; swipe to delete any of them.
Making it yours
Open Settings to see your account, your plan, and your preferences. Tap Redo preferences to change your fields, format, or depth anytime — your feed adapts from the next refresh. On Litmus Pro, stories are rendered in your format and depth automatically, and you can ask for any story to be explained differently in one tap.
- Follow specific blogs — tap Sources at the top of Today (or in Settings) to browse a curated catalog of engineering, science, design, and markets blogs. Follow any of them and their posts join your feed, distilled and cited like everything else.
- Ask — the Ask tab answers questions across everything Litmus has read, with every claim cited to a real story you can open.
- Notifications — turn on a daily briefing at a time you choose, and New from your follows, in Settings. Litmus only notifies you when there's genuinely something new — never an empty ping.

Why do I need an account?
Your briefing is personal — your fields, format, depth, library, and reading activity shape it. An account keeps all of that in sync and your feed ready before you open the app. See exactly what's stored in the Privacy Policy.
Where does the information come from?
From trusted changelogs, official blogs, and curated news topics across tech, AI, design, politics, science, health, and markets — plus any blogs you choose to follow from the Sources catalog. Every summary links its sources and quotes them verbatim — you can always read the original.
What's free, and what's Pro?
Free is an ongoing preview: a three-item daily briefing, one active goal, 3 guided lessons, 3 cited Ask questions, 1 new deep dive, 1 live topic, and 1 link import per month, plus 10 saved items. Pro is $9.99/month or $89.99/year and expands that to 3 goals, 30 lessons, 100 Ask questions, 20 new deep dives, 10 live topics, 3 active topic monitors, 20 followed sources, 10 imports, and 500 saved items. Daily guardrails are 3 lessons, 10 Ask questions, 5 deep dives, 2 live topics, and 2 imports. Cached reads, reviews, and on-device features do not use an allowance.
How does Apple Intelligence help?
On supported devices, you can import a résumé or LinkedIn export and let the on-device model propose your role, skills, responsibilities, and project themes. You review and edit everything before saving. This local work does not use your cloud allowance, and core Litmus features still work on devices without Apple Intelligence.
Is Litmus giving me advice?
No. Litmus provides educational summaries and briefings, not professional, legal, medical, or financial advice. Markets coverage is strictly educational — reported numbers and steelmanned bull/bear theses, never stock picks, price targets, or buy/sell/hold calls.
How do I delete my account?
Open Settings → Delete account & data in the app. Deletion is immediate and permanently removes everything tied to your account — your profile, preferences, library, reading activity, and cached briefings. You can also email [email protected] from your account address and we'll do it for you.
Something isn't working.
Litmus is in beta, so rough edges are possible. Sign out and back in for account issues, and check that you're on the latest TestFlight build. If it persists, email us — a screenshot helps.
